Carbon Levy Removal 

Effective April 1, 2025

On March 15, 2025, the Government of Canada announced that it will be removing the Federal Fuel Charge.

Your Natural Gas Utility will no longer be required to report on or pay the charge for all types of fuel, including marketable natural gas, consumed after March 31, 2025.

For Smoky Lake County residents this means that your upcoming bill will still include these charges for natural gas consumed during the month of March. Only natural gas consumed on or after April 1 will be exempt from the federal fuel charge.
