Labourer- Seasonal/ Full Time

Position Objectives:

Smoky Lake County is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Public Works Department as a Seasonal Full-time Labourer, reporting directly to the Public Works Manager as members of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 955. The position will be effective from May 19, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assisting in tree removal and chipping.
• Equipment Operation: operating small machinery and vehicles as required
• Patching and crack filling roads
• General Labour: assisting with tasks as directed by supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Alberta Driver’s License (minimum Class 5) with a clean Driver’s Abstract
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Willingness to take mandatory training, as required by the County
• Previous experience in public works or related fields is an asset but not required

This position offers a wage based on the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 955, Collective Agreement with Smoky Lake County.
