About Us

The Smoky Lake County Community Learning Council (CLC) was established in 1975 for the purpose of empowering people to learn in a caring, safe, and supportive environment, within Smoky Lake County and the surrounding areas.

The Smoky Lake County Community Learning Council is a non-profit organization established under the legal host of Smoky Lake County; striving to bring lifelong learning opportunities to the communities within the Smoky Lake County region. CLC is funded through the Alberta Skilled Trades and Professions department of the Government of Alberta.

Five Core Values

Five core values as guiding principles will govern our actions and decisions in ensuring mission effectiveness and the realization of our vision:

Access: CLC will strive to ensure maximum access and affordability to our programs and courses for high quality learning opportunities.

Partnership: Working together by networking and enhancing collaboration with organizations and partners to develop and deliver appropriate supports and programs.

Programming: CLC will align programs and courses on a literary basis and provide core literacy, foundational learning programming, and English Language Learning (ELL); committed to learner transition to further education and workforce.

Learning: CLC will increase our profile and community's awareness of what we offer to empower learners to continue their lifelong learning.

Excellence: CLC will strive for excellence in all aspects of programs and course delivery. Our goals aim to accomplish five core targets; Programs and Services, Board Governance, Growth and Innovation, Partnerships, and Human Resources.
